Volunteer Opportunities

UCM is committed to providing students and community members with opportunities to volunteer and engage in service learning projects. Please see calendar for details. These include:

Thursday Supper - Student and community volunteers work together to plan, prepare, set-up, serve, and wash dishes for this weekly, free meal program for low-income community members. Help serve a hot, nutritius meal to low-income community members - Great for groups, Res. Hall activities, campus organizations, etc. Call now to reserve a spot for your group!

Saturday Lunch - New Spring 2007! Inspired by Thursday Supper and the need for a free community meal on the weekend, this is a pilot project this quarter that will continue if we have the necessary resources and volunteers. Student and community volunteers work together to plan, prepare, set-up, serve, and wash dishes for this weekly, free meal program for low-income community members. MLK Day of Service
Annual program - in the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr's commitment to community, students participate in a variety of service projects.  

Special UCM Fundraising Dinners - Students help set up, prepare and serve food and clean up at fundraising dinners for UCM. Friday, January, 26, 5:30pm, Indian Dinner prepared by Usha Matta and friends.  

Saturday Work Trips in Local Community - Projects include flood plain cleanup, painting rural community centers, assisting with rehab of a local community resource center. See calendar.

Alternative Spring and Winter Break Trips for Ohio University Students
- Past trips include delegations to examine political, economic and social issues in Nicaragua and Cuba and volunteer work trips to communities in New Orleans, Appalachia and along the US-Mexico border.  See calendar and call or email for details.
